| You have my sincere and heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary and masterful skills which you applied to achieving an optimal touchweight for my piano keyboard.
Regrettably, the decision to purchase my piano in 1989 was predicated on its tonal qualities—the brilliance of the treble and the powerful bass. I thought at the time that with practice, I could adjust to the awkward and heavy feel of the action. This assumption did not prove to be valid.
As you know, I was doubting my ability to continue my interest in playing because of the strength I had seemingly lost in my hands and wrists. I no longer felt I had the physical stamina to get the response I wanted from my piano. Wishing to blame a diminishing skill level rather than my Grotrian parlor grand, I was initially skeptical that any modifications to correct the “feel” of my piano would be productive. I was also fearful that the tonal quality of my instrument would somehow be impacted in a negative way. I was wrong.
Though not endowed with technical expertise with regard to the thousands of parts that go into the construction of a piano, I am significantly awed by the refinements you have executed with the application of the revolutionary Precision TouchDesign system. The response from note to note is so very consistent, giving me much better control with far less effort. I now have a better chance for achieving more satisfying results, and for that, I am most grateful.
David Stanwood is most fortunate to have a technician with your formal training and skill take such an intense interest in his rigorous and revolutionary system for correcting and rebalancing flaws in the numerous variables that impact a piano’s action. I’m not at all confident that many technicians could attain the same results given the same “recipe.” I would not have proceeded with the project had I not known you held a B.A. in music (piano) from Oberlin. Your quiet confidence gave me confidence and your humility is admirable.
My piano is far better now than it was at point of purchase and I can now look forward to a general improvement, with practice, in my pianistic ability. I hope my letter will serve to influence more of your clients to trust in your abilities to transform their instruments so that they too may enjoy the intoxicating sounds of Chopin Etudes, performed by John Foy, in celebration of a successful project.
Thank you, John.
